With the popularity Raasta Café has gained over the years, it’s bound to become the new favourite for people at Yerwada.
The decor and interiors speak a lot about the true Raastafarian Culture- an easy going and happy place with their signature orange colour and caricatures which aim at spreading love and good vibes. The combination of white, black orange creates a soothing and positive atmosphere reflecting the brand values of enthusiasm, happiness, creativity and energy. The wood highlights and cool LED message bands on the ceiling energise this space.
The vibe of Raasta Café Pubtown is that of a funky Caribbean lounge, a warm space with fresh environs to create a space that transforms you to the Caribbeans.
The speciality of this outlet is the limited but exclusive menu, the youthful vibe and the warm experience that pulls you back to the place.
The menu at Raasta Cafe is comfort food with mostly Italian and Mediterranean dishes and some Indian as well. The specialities at Raasta Cafe are the street food, wood-fired pizzas and classic European dishes. Some recommendations are the Paneer satay, Oriental Schezwan Chicken, Naanzas and the Burmese Khow Suey.
Raasta Cafe is also very popular for its cocktails. Exotic drinks to try are Reggaelicious Mojito made with white rum, watermelon and basil leaves, Manali Bong served in a quirky bong glass, Strawberry Daiquiri, Raasta Signature Smoked Island Iced tea and Bull Frog.
“What started with a small idea is one of the most happening places in town today. Raasta has grown multifold since its inception in 2014. The love we received from our patrons has helped the brand grow with one new outlet every year and the brand Raasta is a 4 member family already. Future plans include vibrant outlets in different popular cities sharing a similar vibe as our own city. Having said all that, the home is where the heart is, and we are thankful to our entire Raastafarian family for taking the brand to where it is today” says Kunal Mhaske, brand owner of Raasta Café.

KHOW SUEY: The Burmese Khow-Suey I had here was enjoyable. The noodles were perfect, the curry had nice flavours. However, would expect the coconut curry to be a bit thicker than what was served to me on the day.
The presentation is a refreshing quick one. Served in a metallic tiffin box, this sure is a fun item to be relished here.
MUTTON SHAMI PAO: The seekh kebab stuffed between two pao looked appetizing. The mutton had been cooked nicely had seasoning was on point. The pao however did ruin the experience. The overall feeling was too dry for this item and somehow couldn’t finish it.
TERIYAKI CHICKEN: An absolutely simple and elegant thing in my opinion. Superbly done chicken drenched in teriyaki sauce was enjoyable and left us craving for more.
MAGIC MUSHROOMS: I’m not a mushroom fan, however, I liked this particular dish. The mushroom and the medium-spicy sauce did wonders. A must-have item for the veg people to go along with the drinks here.
CHICKEN PIZZA: A beautiful thin crust pizza with ideal chicken supreme and a lot of beautiful topping is something not less than an ideal pizza to be had at this place.
PANEER TIKKA NANZA: Mind-blowingly good. Ideal Naanza. It was so good that even a non-vegetarian like me could simply ignore that it’s a veg variant and just go on to enjoy it. Toppings included the yummy paneer tikka cubes, onion, capsicum, cheese and a lot of Italian herbs. Do try it!
HERB AND MARINATED GRILLED CHICKEN: Every element in the name itself was on point. The grilled chicken was beautiful and had a good tangy flavour to it. Felt more like BBQ grilled chicken IMO. A dish which not many would prefer, however, was done nicely.
We ended our tasting with an amazing ‘freak shake’ which had a wonderful soft brownie on the top. While having it we tried to experiment with it, completely drenched it in the chocolate shake.
Overall had a wonderful time with lovely fellow other food bloggers. Do check this place out when near Ishanya Mall.
